Evening Concert - Mark Bebbington (Piano)
Venue: St. Teilo's Church Time: 7.30pm Admission: £15.00
The critical plaudits which have greeted Mark Bebbington's performances and recordings have singled him out as a British pianist of the rarest refinement and maturity. Bebbington's revivals of British piano music are second to none – he has almost single-handedly demonstrated that twentieth century British piano scores have an exciting role to play in the concert hall and recording studio (BBC Music Magazine). He will play a particularly attractive group of pieces by John Ireland, sonatas by Haydn and Schubert and two of Franz Liszt's virtuosic masterpieces, the transcription of the Liebestod from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde and the Concert Paraphrase on Verdi's Rigoletto. The festival is grateful to the John Ireland Trust for their support.
